Choosing photos for AI meme videos

Prepare a recognizable cast, check upload requirements, and avoid paying before the workflow matches your photos.

Start with the cast, not a folder of random photos. Decide who belongs in each role, choose one clear portrait for each selected person, and check the generator’s actual upload requirements. This will not guarantee a good render, but it makes it easier to spot a mismatch before paying.

These are practical preparation suggestions based on the listed workflows. They are not findings from a controlled image-quality benchmark.

Make the person recognizable

Prefer an image where the intended face is clear and another person does not overlap it. A face that is very small, hidden by an object, or turned far away gives you less useful information to assess before upload. An extreme beauty filter may also make it harder to judge whether the result resembles the person you intended.

Keep a second suitable portrait available in case the provider rejects the first. If the site reports an upload problem, read the reason rather than repeatedly paying for the same input.

Follow the slot labels

Multi-person templates usually assign a separate image to each role. For No Scrubs, the listed workflow names center, left, and right slots. For Tiny Desk, different band roles can be optional or required. A generator may leave an original performer in an unused slot.

Do not assume that uploading two faces means both will be replaced. Check the selected roles, the number of required photos, and how the site handles any empty fields. If the page offers a single-person mode and a group mode, choose the mode before selecting files.

Read the file requirements on that site

There is no universal file-size limit across these generators. For example, the Put Me In No Scrubs page lists specific formats and a size limit for its own upload fields. Another site can accept different files or impose a different limit.

Check supported formats, maximum size, and whether the form asks for a face portrait or a fuller view. Do not enlarge a tiny image simply to create a larger file: that changes its dimensions without recovering missing facial detail.

Check people, pets, and permission

A person-only template should not be treated as a pet workflow because an unrelated example uses an animal. Check support for the exact template. In the directory, “Not confirmed” means we did not establish the capability; it is not a promise that the upload will work.

Use portraits of people who agreed to appear. Read the receiving provider’s retention policy before uploading, especially if you would not be comfortable leaving the image on that service. MemeRoute compares these websites but does not receive or process the portraits sent to them.

Before checkout, review the selected cast, minimum purchase, output length, and sound. Then watch the finished video in full before publishing it.
